Health on the go
Living in a fast paced world where people are constantly on the go, the demand for convenience has increased. While people earlier favoured cooking food just before a meal, they now prefer purchasing ready-to-eat food items as it is less time consuming, convenient and easy. However, not one of us will compromise on their health.

While people earlier favoured cooking food just before a meal, they now prefer purchasing ready-to-eat food items as it is less time consuming, convenient and easy. However, not one of us will compromise on their health.
Considering how people of all age groups, especially young adults, have become more health conscious and watch their caloric intake, they have changed their eating and drinking habits in a considerable way and are paying greater attention to physical fitness for their well-being. Hence, there is an increasing demand for foods such as cornflakes, oats, whole grains, lean proteins, steamed vegetables and fruits. Changing lifestyles have heightened people's awareness of the need to evolve eating and cooking behaviour.
For instance, there has been a gradual shift from frying or even cooking food to steaming it. Steamed food maintains 95 per cent of its nutritional value and is far lighter on the stomach.
People are consciously opting for food and beverages options that are not only easy to make and readily available, but more importantly are rich in nutrition.
With today's on-the-go lifestyle, ready to drink beverages are increasingly becoming a part of everyone's diet. With a variety of products now available, such as jucies, flavored milk, lassi, soy milk and even sugar-free drinks targeted at the more health conscious customer, one has a lot of options to choose from.
The important point here is to choose a drink that is healthy and nutritious.

Don't boil out milk's nutrition
Milk is a wholesome drink by itself and contains all the vital nutrients required for the body. It is beneficiary for all ages and is considered a 'life-giving nectar'. Milk and other dairy products are the primary source of calcium and are rich in proteins that are essential for the growth and development of every individual.

Milk and other dairy products are the primary source of calcium and are rich in proteins that are essential for the growth and development of every individual.
However, while we consume milk on a daily basis, do we know the harmful effects of consuming milk after it is boiled? While we adopt healthier practices when it comes to cooking our food - opting for steamed food or food cooked in less oil - in order to get all the nutrition we can, it is surprising that so many of us do not know that boiling milk reduces nutritional value.
A recent study (conducted by Millward Brown in collaboration with Tetra Pak) revealed that as many as 83% mothers across the country are unaware of the fact that boiling milk decreases its nutritional value. It is indeed shocking that a paltry 17% mothers relate boiling milk to nutritional loss. Improper boiling of milk reduces nutritional value and robs it of essential vitamins, proteins, amino acids and minerals. Milk is a vital source for Vitamin D and Vitamin B 12 that help in Calcium absorption. Both these Vitamins are highly heat sensitive and boiling milk destroys both substantially Even proteins are denatured and destroyed when milk is boiled at temperatures above 100º Celsius for over 15 minutes.
Consumers need to be sensitised regarding improper boiling practices as it depletes milk of nutrients. At the same time, they should also be aware about technologies that best protect milk.
UHT is the solution
Ultra-High Temperature (UHT) treated milk is processed and packaged in sterile conditions. For milk that undergoes the UHT (Ultra High Temperature) process, needs to be of good quality. This is then heated to a high temperature for 2-3 seconds in aseptic (sterile) conditions. This ensures that all harmful bacteria are destroyed while retaining the goodness of milk. The UHT Milk is then aseptically packaged in six-layer Tetra Pak packaging. The paper-based Tetra Pak packages keep the milk protected from oxygen, light and bacterial spoilage without any preservatives. The packages are tamper-evident and therefore milk is protected from contamination and adulteration.
